Data not updating today using WLD version 6.9.24.1. Results vary per symbol, lagging from a couple days up to several months, guess based on last time each was viewed.

Tried data update and reboot multiple times with no success.

Please advise how to correct this problem

Thanks,

I've got nothing to add to your own topic from 2020 in principle:

Also, just for the sake of completeness I leave a pointer to another problem report from today:

This is different from 2020. Then it was just wait till next AM (from given trading day) for updated data to come through. Now much larger lag all the way into following PM and maybe beyond. First time I've ever seen such a delay. Are you suggesting "in principle" the update delay could be any length of time up to infinite?

Do I understand 2nd thread correctly? Suggests it's working for WL8 but not for WL6 like I have?

Yahoo is just one of the many providers - moreover, it's a free feed that comes without any warranty. You can be certain that they do not want you making automated data downloads though. Here's a list of replacements for WL6:

Wealth-Lab 6 Data Providers

WL6 is completely unsupported. Yahoo's working in WL8 but even if it failed it would took some time to notice (for U.S. stocks) because WL8 has a built in failover and would simply request the data from next enabled provider. In addition to the WL6 providers (which received a lot of improvements in WL8), the new version has wider coverage (IB, TDA, Alpaca, CSI, Tradier...) - with Norgate data coming soon.

Same here. I know other options and WL6 is not supported. Nevertheless, it will be extremely helpful if this can be fixed. TIA.

Sorry, this is not considered. You've got enough alternatives if for some reason you prefer to stick with the unsupported platform.

Thanks Eugene.
Looks like my current subscription has become unusable.
Is there a way for me to upgrade my legacy WL6 subscription (as a previous Fidelity user) to WL8?
Please advise how to do that and need to make sure my existing drawing files can be maintained under the new version.

I just completed an initial load of three Yahoo! DataSets in WL8 - 50, 100, then 200 symbols. Each loaded from scratch in a few moments. So I guess Yahoo is working there though making no promises for larger DataSets like 500, 1000 symbols or more!

No but to sweeten the pill, your WL6 would be automatically renewed for free for as long as your WL8 subscription is active.

To summarize:
My WL6 subscription not working anymore for Yahoo data and associated drawing files that I've developed.
Requires new WL8 subscription to resolve.
No credit is available for remaining subscription months (disappointing if so)
WL8 can handle at least 200 symbols (not sure how large my current data set is).

Need the following to proceed:
How do I port my existing drawing files from WL6 to WL8?
Clarification on sign up. Presumably, just go WL8 plans and click on link?
Will free trial give me enough capability to verify successful transition from WL6 to WL8 before I commit long term?

I ran into a similar problem. Is the Wealth-data a possible solution? Is it possible to run it with WL6 so I don't have to convert my code to WL8? I don't mind paying for it if it is not free. I just do not have time to convert the code. Also, I am trading Australia, USA and CAD markets, are all of them available in Wealth-data?

@bliss

To summarize:

I would rather say that the availability of Yahoo data is not guaranteed even in WL8. Should Yahoo decide to be serious about protecting their data they could introduce means like Google Recaptcha, thus effectively breaking the automated data download in WL8 or ANY platform.

We'll be happy to answer questions about migration to WL8 on our new forum. Thanks.

Hi Eugene, your latest reply puts me back to square one?!?
Unfortunately, I'm currently slaved to Yahoo historical data for my work.
QUOTE: "WL6 is completely unsupported"
- Suggests no path forward with WL6? Unless there's alternate data source that's equivalent and viable.

OUOTE (from WL8 link): "Note! Yahoo! Finance is a free service and typically "breaks" without warning about once each year. When that happens, it takes some time for us (and when I say "us", I really mean "Eugene") to adapt to the breaking change and re-establish a working connection for WealthLab."
-Suggests you're currently fixing breaks on WL8 but not WL6.
-Guess I'm ok with this in interim till I can figure out transition to something else.
-But your latest comment suggests may not be possible in future. Seems you should update your WL8 data provider page accordingly to state, "not guaranteed ".

Possible path forward (would like your comment including alternate if available)
-Transition to WL8 and verify current Yahoo data works.
-Look into Broker option or other source as replacement for Yahoo in future
-- BUT track record not good with Brokers, i.e. lost Fidelity access previously.
-- Is there suggested choice here or just crap shoot?

Thanks,

Like I said numerous times, there's no shortage of alternatives: Wealth-Lab 6 Data Providers

It's obvious. Any free feed comes without any warranty. They may be taken down at any moment. Been there done that: scroll down to take a look at Decommissioned providers.

The product was owned by Fidelity. Since then we gained control of it and Dion (WL founder) rewrote it from scratch to avoid such situation going forward. Instead of Fidelity, now you have access to Alpaca, IB, TDA and Tradier (plus Binance, Kraken and KuCoin for those into cryptos).

@flanda, can you please read this topic from the start?

And since the error message is identical as in another topic (Yahoo Error: The Uri string is too long), you could read that either.

Answers to be found in either thread. Thanks.
