I tried to launch the program this morning but it says my version is not supported anymore and it forces me to upgrade. After upgrade, when I try to start WLP, it pops up and ask me for user name and password but somehow it won't let me get in... Is that a fidelity problem ? Or there is something I forgot to do ?

It's noticed that the upgrade logic in WLP 6.9.24 appears not to be working correctly. Try to uninstall WLP, remove its main folder under Program Files, and then reinstall from scratch by downloading the installer from Fidelity's website. Then re-install all required Extensions from our website.

I just called Fidelity Active Trader Services. They said, "We no longer support Wealth Lab Pro." All support comes from MS123. He referred me to the forum with all questions. So it's not as of 7/31/2020. It's as of right now, 7/9/2020! . If you have it running, I would advise you not to shut it down until issue is fixed. Edit: Maybe not. My running WLP is now frozen. I have no choice but to shut it down.

@LenMoz, have you updated to 6.9.24 or refrained and your older build is frozen, too? Can you log back in with the older build?

There's some flaw with the upgrade process so another build might be needed.

@Eugene, I am still on 6.9.20.7. It had frozen sometime after I ran Data Manager this morning; I couldn't even click the X to shut it down. I had to kill it with Task Manager. It restarted successfully with no advisement that I must upgrade to 6.9.24. So I'm good.

I did have a long call with Fidelity and spoke with help desk, a supervisor, and a tech support rep. I asked them to raise the issue within Fidelity. I also requested that they back out the software change that forces the upgrade. I doubt any of that will change the situation.

@kelvinyip

What happens exactly when you're asked "for user name and password but somehow it won't let me get in"? Can you attach a screenshot?

I tried to launch WL but it says my version is not supported anymore and it force me to upgrade. Since October 2019, I have been using version 6.9.20, I have not been able to login on to a newer versions, but now version 6.9.20 is uninstalled. I am having the same issue with versions 6.9.24 as I did with 6.9.21, there is not a place to login, I only have a blank screen, I don't have wealth lab to use, I install the upgrade from https://www.fidelity.com/wlp. Please help, is there a solution.

The installation was successful l, but I get a black screen without a place to login.

Ctrl-K works?

Ctrl+K should no longer be necessary if actually running the 6.9.24 executable. It's possible the upgrade did not uninstall the previous version.

Please Uninstall first, and then install 6.9.24. Let us know if that works. If it does not, please attach a screen shot of what you're seeing.

Important!
Wealth-Lab Pro login is not compatible with Two-Factor Authentication. To use WLP, you'll need to disable that at fidelity.com.

A success story. I had been on 6.9.20.7 and was forced to upgrade. I cancelled the automatic upgrade. I did not uninstall. I installed from https://www.fidelity.com/wlp. All works fine so far.

I disable Two-Factor Authentication. I uninstall wlp then installed from https://www.fidelity.com/wlp. No change, I tried Ctrl+K and got a message I have not seen before, it said "Login failure: Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Screen shots of black screen without a login box and the message received after doing Ctrl+K.

"Login failure: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" clearly indicates that 2FA is not disabled.

I tested it again, I can login in without receiving security code text from fidelity since disabling 2FA. I just tried also removing account lockdown mode. No change, I get the same message, "Login failure: Object reference not set to an instance of an object". Could it be that the 2FA needs to go thru an overnight cycle to be linked to wlp.

I uninstalled and reboot then download from Fidelity to install but still not working.
Reboot helped me with similar issues before but not this time... In the mean time, I got email from Fidelity telling me to register here on wealth-lab.com to download wealth-lab developer.....

Should I just get WL developer and set it up ? WL pro will be gone by 7/31/2020 anyway...

By the way, where/how do I download WL developer ?

It's not possible to download WLD in July yet. Did you read the email from Fidelity? Just follow what's suggested.

With "somehow it won't let me get in" and "not working", your posts #1 and #17 do not contain enough detail to understand what's going on and suggest a solution.

Given the lack of screenshots and error message, the only idea I can share is that a new uninstall may end up having better success if you remove the entire WLP6 folder under Program Files following it. (Once you get WLP working you'll have to reinstall all installed Extensions).

I can get in now... Folks, do this....

(1) disable 2 factor auth from Fidelity
(2) do Eugene's uninstall AND remove program file folder
(3) Reboot your computer (key step, you must reboot 1st)
(4) do Cone's Wealth-Lab Pro 6.9.24 - Read to Upgrade to fetch install file
(5) Now it works for me!!

Apparently you have 2FA enabled in your account. WLP isn't compatible with 2FA.

Alphaplus post #15, perhaps you just need to reboot before installing.

No luck on waiting for the overnight cycle helping the Login box to appear. 2FA is still disable, I uninstalled WLP, then reboot my pc and install WLP from fidelity.com. Still a black screen without a Login box.

Too bad. Did you remove the WLP6 main folder under Program Files?

In the path C:/Program Files/Fidelity Investments/Wealth-Lab Pro 6/Data, once the uninstall is complete I am only left with C:/Program Files. Everything starting with Fidelity Investments, including Wealth-Lab Pro 6 has already been removed. So it's not there to remove, am I looking in the wrong place or should I remove it before I do the uninstall.

Up and running WLP 6.9.24.4. Thank you all for the helpful knowledge. What I did was used a different windows administrator log in to install 6.9.24, I moved over my strategies and data sets, it's running without any issues.

I ran the WLP 6.9.24 installer, which completed successfully. The problem is when I launch WLP with the new desktop shortcut, I get WLP 6.9.22.7 instead. Examining the Program Files directory (see below) shows it never installed. What's going on, and is everyone having this problem? Is the installer not able to replace the old version with the new version? (Why not?)

Thanks.

Simply re-running the installer and telling it to remove Wealth-Lab doesn't work. What I ended up doing was renaming the C:\Program Files\Fidelity Investments\Wealth-Lab Pro directory to "\Wealth-Lab Pro old", then re-running the installer. That works.

Of course, you then need to use Extension Manager to re-download and install all the add-on, optimizer, and indicator libraries.

And you need to move any third-party libraries (e.g. MathNet.Numerics.dll) including your own (Local.Components.dll, Local.Indicators.dll) from the old directory into the new \Wealth--Lab Pro directory. Now you're set!

Right. That's exactly what post #2 suggested: "remove its main folder under Program Files". To remove means to delete the folder, then reinstall.

I understand your frustration from reinstalling but soon we'll be focused on WLD only where we'll have full control. The wait is not too long.
