Hi,
I have seen this 3 or 4 times and saw it again this morning. When I place a short trade I do see that Fidelity registers that trade as a short, in Active Trader Pro there is a negative number for the quantity of shares. However, when I go to cover the short Active Trader Pro shows the transaction as a "Buy" and not a "Cover" in the Active Trader Pro Orders window. This results in my Positions showing that I am short and long the stock. I believe this because the positions have 2 rows for the same symbol. One shows a positive number for the quantity of shares and the other row shows the same number of shares just negative. Is this the okay? Do I need to do something different so that Active Trader Pro positions show that I am flat? Or is this okay and Fidelity will deal with this at the end of the day?
Thanks,
-Frank
