Hi. How do you turn off the automatic update of data on a stock during the day. I am wanting to work on the program but cannot because it continually takes the current chart back to the latest movements in the stock. Thanks. Michael

Hi,
Depress the Stream button.

Hi Eugene. OK, I found that if I do this it will quit streaming. BUT it takes me back a week and the only way to get to say yesterday is to click again the streaming button. How to access all data to this point without constant streaming?

By keeping the static data up to date either manually or automatically. It's explained in the User Guide > Data > Data Manager > Update Data.

OK. I'd appreciate it if you could explain to me. M

And where do I get a user's guide? I have on for WLPro but not developer. M

The whole data update workflow from creating a DataSet to clicking the "Update data" button (or setting up scheduled data update) is documented in the User Guide. It's under the Help menu in WLD (like in WLP). If you have a focused, specific question then you've come to the right place.

Help menu > first selection.
For a static chart to return data up to the current point, enable File > Update Data On Demand. It's fine to leave that on during the day when you're just looking at charts, but On Demand is your enemy for fast backtesting. When doing multi-symbol backtests, disable On-Demand.
Also, if you want to see the up-to-the second "partial" last bar data for your static charts, make sure to select that option for Yahoo! or IQFeed in their Data Manager views.

Yes I see about clicking the update data button. That is easy enough to figure out by myself. What I do not understand is how to access the most recent data (day) without having the data streaming and constantly updating. I do not see this explained anywhere.

Explained by Robert in post #9.

Continue not to see how to make this work. Cone I clicked in the data manager for the partial last bar data but I don't yet see that this has done anything. Again, when I turn the update data on demand on it will take me to the current day when I click stream. But when I unblock stream it takes me back to 8-28-20 rather than either yesterday or the current. day. Again, how do I fix this? M

8-28-20 may be inadvertently selected as the ending date in your data loading range.

Hmmm. Well that was it. But here is what happens. If I change the date to either all data or most current it will update the current chart I am in, But if I then click stream off on another chart it resets the data itself to 8-28-20. I've now done this for each of the 4 charts open and I get the most current data without the constant updating.

Guess that does me for now. Thanks. M

Glad to see you've got to the bottom of it. You're welcome.
