Market Sentiment static data provider has been released for installation from Extensions. Now Wealth-Lab 6 customers can download the following daily historical market sentiment data provided by Unicorn Research, for free:

* NYSE Advancing, Declining and Unchanged Issues with Advancing/Declining Volume, New 52-week Highs and Lows
* AMEX Advancing, Declining and Unchanged Issues with Advancing/Declining Volume, New 52-week Highs and Lows
* NASDAQ Advancing, Declining and Unchanged Issues with Advancing/Declining Volume, New 52-week Highs and Lows

Market Sentiment provider updated to 2011.01 on 01/12/2011.

Maintenance release (bugfix), no highlights.

Update to Wealth-Lab 6.1 to install and use the provider.

Market Sentiment provider updated to version 2011.04.

Maintenance release (bugfix) only:

* Fixed: potential issue on network problems (e.g. destination host unreachable)

The data provider no longer works. The extension no longer updates but has been working well for months. I have uninstall the extension and re started WealthLab and then re installed the extension but the data will not update. Any ideas on what the problem might be.

The vendor's website at http://unicorn.us.com loads unusually slowly so the provider times out. This can be a temporary condition. Please consider asking the webmaster.

P.S. Reinstalling extension is usually absolutely useless.

I just tried to update the data and it worked.

I am having a similar problem accessing Market Sentiment Data. It takes a long time more than 10min to respond and than the following error is displayed. "Data parsing error. Symbol AMEX_advn, Line Number: -1, string" All Market Sentiment symbols same problem

Just to add, I have no problem updating if I open up a chart window and have Update Data on Demand checked.

Any suggestions?

I will fix this error in a new version. Thanks for the heads-up. Please stay tuned, the update is coming next week.

What's new in version 2016.04?

* Fix: "Error setting min/max download threads" message prevents data update
* Change: multithreaded download routine rewritten. Should improve work on modern multi-core CPUs (e.g. servers)
* Change: Wealth-Lab 6.8+ and .NET 4.5 are required to install/update

Market Sentiment data not updating or accessible. Is there a problem or something on my side?

Their server is taking too long to respond so the data requests are getting timed out. For now, you might want to retry tomorrow. On my part I see potential in handling this more gracefully. Look for solution in upcoming build 2018.08 of the provider. Thanks for the heads-up.

What's new in version 2018.08:

* Fix: No data downloaded on sluggish server response
* Change: Wealth-Lab 6.9+ required to install/update
* Change: (internal) user agent change

Why not visit the data source to make sure that...

THIS SITE HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. The online data sources are no longer offering advance-decline data or no longer accept server-side requests. Historical data up to early February 2020 can still be downloaded, but there will be no more updates. Please look for alternatives, such as ...

Don't forget that you can build the advance/decline data yourself by downloading the data for all NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX stocks every day and using Index-Lab to build the indices of advancers/decliners.

Should you come across a free and reliable service on par with the decommissioned unicorn.us.com, we can look into your find. I mean the historical series (not from Quandl as they've been getting it from Unicorn which is just decommissioned) and not some daily snapshots.

Among paid subscriptions, NorgateData (ex Premium Data) and IQFeed offer the market sentiment data. As there are data providers for WL, switching to a paid source is of course a viable option.

I've revisited the free data feeds and haven't found good replacements to the free market sentiment data that was provided by Unicorn Research. The Market Sentiment data provider is probably getting decommissioned soon. :(

Luckily, this is not where it ends. The most frequently used Market Sentiment data will be available again to WLD users. Look forward to an announcement to be made in this thread shortly. :)

The Market Sentiment provider is depreciated and the extension has been taken down. Effective 02/20/2020, MS123 supports the most frequently used market sentiment data through our Wealth-Data provider - the advancing, declining and unchanged issues for AMEX, NASDAQ and NYSE! Here are the symbols:
