Yesterday I received my e-mail explaining how to transition from Wealth Lab Pro (WLP) to Wealth Lab Developer (WLD). However, I have a few questions.

Background: In addition to the built-in analyses of Wealth Lab, I need access to historical and daily end-of-day-prices AND distributions. I use Strategies to download these to text files for use in other analysis programs that I have developed.

1. Migrating Strategies and Data.. In the same paragraph, the e-mail says the migration tool moves "Datasets" and then later says it " ... copies the configuration and installed extensions from WLPro, excluding Fidelity DataSets and data, which can no longer be maintained. " I have DataSets that I have created that I need. What are "Fidelity DataSets"? Will my user created DataSets (which contain many Fidelity symbols) be migrated? And what is Fidelity "data"? Does this mean that the symbol data (price, distributions, etc.) that are already in Wealth Lab Pro (downloaded from the Fidelity Data provider) will not be migrated?

2. Data Providers. Wealth-lab.com recommends the Norgate Data provider that looks like it satisfies my needs. I would like to know if there are any data providers that are built-in to WPD or that can be installed at no cost? I understand that the "Fidelity" branded providers will go away, but I currently have the Yahoo provider installed in WLP (at no cost to me). It seems to provide everything that I need. Is it available in WLD? Are there others?

3. Migrating. The e-mail does not address the order of doing things, but I assume that the correct way to transition is to download and install WLD and then run the migration tool. Is this correct?

The email says it very clearly what's supported and what's not. Fidelity specific features are not, all the rest is available.

1. You will lose access to Fidelity data.
2. If Yahoo is all you need then it's perfectly fine.
3. Yes.

Installed WLD. Successfully migrated Scripts (Strategies). Data did not migrate. Can you advise me on what to do next?

Quoting from email with instructions that you received:

"Migrating Strategies and Data
We put together a simple migration tool to more seamlessly move Strategies, DataSets, Extensions, and more into your WLDev user data folder. The tool will not delete anything from your WLPro installation or elsewhere. Instead, it creates a new WLDev user data folder and copies the configuration and installed extensions from WLPro, excluding Fidelity DataSets and data, which can no longer be maintained."

Data migration isn't advertised. For Fidelity data it's not considered except that you could do it by hand using this How-To: Migrate your intraday Fidelity data to AlphaVantage. If you have non-Fidelity data providers installed, these Sxtensions should be migrated along with their DataSets, so you could reload it from scratch.

Hope this makes better sense now.

Hi Eugene,
Received my WLDev transition email on the 20th. I have not upgraded yet. I just wanted to confirm a few things before I do.
1) My strategies utilize end-of-day stock quote info so Norgate should suffice. Correct?
2) My strategies have utilized the Fidelity data daily quote downloads Since 2010. Since WLDev does not utilize the Fidelity data i need to have Norgate go back to 2010 to replace my fidelity quote history to maintain my backtesting capability as it is in Fidelity presently, correct?
3) Understand the subscription to be $150. No worries as my Trading Gains far outweigh that cost in magnitudes of thousands. I'm just happy that we have some type of continuance as Wealth-Lab has been unbelievably profitable for me over the past 10 years.
Thanks for getting this done for us.

Hi Steven,

A Norgate subscription should be a headache free approach to Fidelity data replacement. Depending on package, it provides data ranging from 10 years back to 1950s, and with possibilities including only the current index constituents to delisted securities and historical index constituents.

You could also choose from free data providers listed below, with less stability though:

I understand Fidelity data cannot be updated and kept current.

Can the existing historical data be used for back testing? Are there WLD providers to access WL6 and WL4 data? Specifically interested in .WL files now accessed with WL4 Files Static Provider. Also can WLD access both .WL and .,WLF files for WL6?

You will find an answer to both questions in the conversation link in post #4 above.

Since I have moved everything to WLD from WLP, is it ok to uninstall WLP ? would it affect WLD ?

Note that the topic is about data migration. Uninstalling WLP won't affect WLD anyhow.
