Not all data range options work for me

I know we can specify a time range for backtesting. There are four choices:
1) All Data
2) provide "Number of Bars"
3) provide "Most Recent (X year/X month/...)"
4) provide a "date range" (01/01/2009-01/01/2010)..

1) 2) work in my computer. 3) 4), however, do not work at all. What's the possible problem? thanks for your helps.
