I have the following questions regarding data for Wealth Lab 5 that I have not been able to answer from studying the documentation manuals.
1. Is it possible to relocate or specify the location of stock data other than the Fidelity data?
2. If I have already downloaded Fidelity data and then I change the location which results in the data being downloaded again but to a different location, is there an easy way to clean up the original data download so that I can reclaim some disk space?
3. Do most people use the Fidelity data or are there merits to using data from other sources?
Thanks,
Dave

It is not currently possible but most likely will eventually be implemented (Y/MSN).

Yes, just go to
where data is stored (see WL User Guide for details on that) and erase the *.WL files in FidelityStaticProvider\.. However, I would do it the other way: first I would have created the directory to relocate to, moved the *.WL files there, and then selected the Relocate option.

Re: 3.
Fidelity data is not adjusted for cash distributions, like dividends. (It is split adjusted, however.) For a discussion of how this affects your backtests/indicators, then see
The Effect of Dividends and Distributions on DataSourcesI would add is that since that KB article was written, Fidelity has incorporated the option (in Preferences, F12) to capture dividends in backtests. So, if you own (short) a stock on the day before an ex-date, you're paid (you pay) the dividend, but, the gaps in the data will still affect indicators.
Finally, 5.1 is somewhat "buggy" with respect to these payments, but this has been corrected in 5.3, which is due out very soon.

Thanks for the replies. Thought about the idea of copying existing data over to the new directory but was not familiar enough with WL to try that approach.
Was curious about 5.2 since you indicated that 5.3 was due out soon. Does 5.2 not exist?
Thanks,
Dave

Just the opposite: it exists as a special Educational version of Wealth-Lab Pro.
