I was trying to create a new yahoo finance dataset by using the stock list from a US sector. I clicked to update the classifications since the classifications I have are from 2008 but I always got an error message and the classifications did not update. I decided to try uninstall and re install the yahoo extension to see if this might fix the problem but now when the Wealthlab extension manager trys to download the yahoo extension I get the error :
Error downloading Extension. Strong Name: Yahoo WMS, Version: 1.3.20.0
WealthLab.DataProviders.Yahoo.dll.end, The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found
any help?

I have installed the latest version of Wealthlab and now the yahoo finance extension download is working. But the problem with refreshing classifications still persists. The error message when I click Refresh Classification is: Error while downloading Classification file: The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request

Keep in mind that there's only one problem that reinstalling an extension can fix: it's when you broke an extension by unwittingly deleting one of its shared components during uninstallation of another extension. Otherwise it's simply useless.
Extensions should not be uninstalled, I believe. If I had my way, I would remove that unlucky Uninstall Extension button!

Need Wealth-Lab 6.4.62 or later to download extensions:
ATTENTION! "Error 404" when installing/updating extensionsQUOTE:

We'll try to fix that HTTP Error 400 for downloads but this will not help get an updated classification. We haven't updated the classification since 2008. I looked into the problem and at one point even considered rewriting our internal classification builder but after some research, I dropped the idea altogether. Problem is, many indices stopped recognizing and for some key ones that's left, Yahoo stopped returning their components. Take
S&P 500 for example:
There is no Components data available for ^GSPC.
Nice? Since updating the classification this way would surely lead to degradation, we won't be touching the indices and refreshing just sectors alone does not make big sense. To sum up, forget about "Refresh Classification" at least for some time until a solution is found: there's no need in refreshing the Y! classification groups as they're frozen on purpose.

Whatever said above is no longer actual so let's post an update to this old thread:
Due to popular demand, since 2018 Wealth-Lab has been keeping the Yahoo! Classification Groups up to date on a weekly basis. We're tracking changes to the constituents of many international indices (37 indices from 27 countries), tradable shares on NYSE/NASDAQ/AMEX, U.S. indices (AMEX, DJ, NYSE, Russell, S&P) and lately even cryptocurrencies.
