Hi,
I want to read *.WL files in a C# program outside Wealth Lab. What's the file format of *.WL?
Although I can export the data to a user-defined format, I'd prefer not to take the extra step.
Thanks.

Hi,
Fidelity made the data format unpublished. I guess it was purposefully and most likely, their decision was motivated legally to protect their data from redistribution, sharing and stuff like that. Why would you need to read the data in a 3rd party application?

Good question. I probably don't. I prefer to code in VS than WealthLab. And I don't want to start and shut down WealthLab for every debug iteration.
Is there a way to read WL's using WealthLab.dll?

By the way, is WealthLab.dll open source? I remembered reading it being so somewhere.

WealthLab.dll has always been closed source, and I don't think it's possible to find an opposite statement anywhere on this resource.
I understand your line of thinking, and we (the technicians) will not be advising or discussing the usage of WealthLab.dll as a component in custom apps. Remember, its reverse engineering is prohibited by EULA.
