Would it be feasible, possible, eventually, ... to install WL onto a USB drive, and run it off the USB drive? ..... Like some incarnations of FireFox can be installed onto and run off a USB drive e.g., for Traveler's alternative access? On to facilitate switching between home and work pc?

If not now possible, thanks for consideration as an eventual feature addition.

Alternatives for travelers:

1. Use a laptop. Take it with you.

2. Configure your home PC for Remote Desktop, open up the default port 3389 for RDP in your firewall (or whichever other you wish to configure), and connect from any location.

Re: home PC - note that Windows Home editions have no support to act as an RDP host, it takes a Professional edition. In this case, there are many alternatives like UltraVNC, FreeRDP, Logmein that should work:

You could pcAnywhere or similar for XP Home, and although I don't have a "Home" edition to try it, there appears to be a way to make "Home" think it's "Pro" to get terminal services running.

A lot of employers are restrictive of employees installing software or accessing other PCs or remote desktops from work PCs. They would object to eployees bringing in their personal laptops (which would have difficulty accessing the internet from an inside office without being able to jack in). Certainly most everyone would not wish to install their Active Trader and or WL software and strategies on an employer's PC. This is part of why the Firefox/TOR USB installation is so neat, convenient, appreciated, and useful for many, since it supposedly allows Firefox to be run off the USB, and then removed without a trace on the PC.

I was traveling on a riverboat cruise in China' 3 Gorges a couple of months ago. It was the newest and largest riverboat. No wifi. There was a room with PC's with internet / ethernet access. I brought my laptop and plugged it into the ethernet port. No go. Attendant said it was necessary to install a specialized software for internet access through their provider. So no access through my laptop. I wasn't going to install Fidelity Active Trader or WL on their PCs. I did not try remote desktop / not familiar with them.

On the Chinese riverboat (actually a British company), I was able to load Firefox with TOR from my USB drive and read the Wall Street Journal and other otherwise censored / restricted news sources and urls (including YouTube).

Certainly if it is not possible for Fidelity/WL to fix the potential piracy/security exposure, then I can appreciate not facilitating or permitting a USB installation.

It could, but it's a function of the network card. It's easier just to leave the computer running and "never sleep".
