I'm running WL Pro 5.3, with Vista. It was running fine until today when I ran a strategy ranking followed by a single backtest on a dataset which threw an out of memory exception. I closed down WL Pro and now every time I click on the icon to run it, a windows box displays with the following message;
"Wealth-Lap Pro has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will
close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "
I've rebooted but still get the same error.
Is there a solution to this ?
thx

1. Create a Ticket.
2. Reproduce the error
3. If there's a link like "What data does this error report contain?", copy the "Error signature" data and paste it into the ticket text.
4. Find your User \Data folder. (User Guide: Data > Where Data is Stored)
5. In \Data\Workspaces, rename the Default.ws file if it exists. Start WLP.
Did it help? -> Zip and attached the Default.ws file to the ticket
6. Above the \Data folder, rename the WealthLabPro parent folder; WealthLabProX for example. Start WLP.
Did it help? -> There's something in the user data that we need to find.
7. If none of the above worked, we'll try to help more in the ticket.

thx Cone. I renamed the directory and that worked. I then copied my datasets and strategies over. So far it's working.

Did you happen to change regional settings?

By change, did you happen to keep the old faulty directory? I have a question...

I'm not sure what the regional setting is. I just went in to the directory under roaming etc.. and renamed it. When i started WL Pro it created the new directory. I then copied my specific data/rules over. I did have to re-update all my datasets and change screen preferences back etc.

Yes I am keeping the old directory for now.
FWIW, going forward after running the strategy ranking, I close WL down and then re-open it before doing anything else.

By regional settings, I mean Windows Control Panel > Regional and Language, and specifically if you changed the decimal character or date separators. That would cause a startup crash based on the data saved in the Data\WealthLabConfig.txt file.

Good. In your old data directory (just where
WealthLabConfig.txt is), do you see a file named ExtensionManagerConfig.xml? How many bytes of size exactly does it have? Is it empty?

No.

Yes. ExtensionManagerConfig.xml has 0 bytes.
In the working directory it is 1KB.

Thank you. Zero size ExtensionManagerConfig.xml will crash WL5. This bug will be fixed in the next version.
