Hello!

Which time frame charts this extension has? Daily? H4? H1?

Does this extension has symbols like ETH/BTC, BNB/BTC, LTC/BTC or only /USD pairs?

Hi,

You can find both questions answered on the extension's download page:

It's called cross rates. Yes, it has them.

A link to the online user guide was missing on the download page (usually it's in the Description block). Fixed. Here's it:

Cryptocurrency provider: online user guide.

Hello

I got the paid version and had access to the data, but I can't configure it to H4 (240 minutes). Only Hourly (H1) and Daily charts.
How can I do it?

Hi,

Here's how:

Thank you, worked now.
The data is only from 28/04/2020 to today?

To tell for sure, please switch to "All data".

I did
Only shows the last 2002 H1 bars and 501 H4 bars
That isn't enough for a proper backtest

And are only data for BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, ZEC, DASH, XMR and BTC/EUR?

The description page (post #2) says: "...cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash (and many more) and their cross rates." Meaning that anything listed at cryptocompare.com is automatically supported. Those tickers are just for a quick start.

There are more capable paid plans:

I see
I wasn't using the Add Symbols properly, it works fine now.

And that means that I have to pay to CryptoCompare to get more data?
How I would link that with the Wealth Lab?

At the moment you cannot link it directly. The WL provider does not currently support authentication which enables paid API access.

As an alternative you could try exporting their data to ASCII or Excel (for example). I have no idea if ASCII export is supported by Cryptocompare but Excel seemingly is:

http://help.cryptosheets.com/en/articles/1867392-how-to-pull-ohlcv-for-thousands-of-cryptocurrencies-directly-into-excel
https://intercom.help/cryptosheets/en/articles/3432991-cryptocompare-in-cryptosheets

Then it could be exported to ASCII or (not tested) imported by our Excel static data provider. Of course this is sort of kludgy.

I'll put Cryptocompare paid API on a feature request list for review later.

So the process now would be paying the Professional plan at CryptoCompare for at least a month to have access to the data, checking if they export to ASCII or Excel, export the data and import to WL?
Then do a check to see if the data is trustworthy?

Sounds good. But before paying for a subscription I'd rather ask their support if there's ASCII export for paid users and/or Excel export still works. Any option should do to test their data.

Gonna try it out

The CryptoCompare answered:

"For paid users, we provide an option to download CSV file of our data and there is Excel export too which works too for everyone, you can check our guides http://help.cryptosheets.com/en/articles/1867392-how-to-pull-ohlcv-for-thousands-of-cryptocurrencies-directly-into-excel and http://help.cryptosheets.com/en/articles/3432991-cryptocompare-data-in-excel-googlesheets-using-cryptosheets"

Good to know. Looked into the API docs to find Cryptocompare's authentication very simple. Should you subscribe and find their extended data acceptable for your needs, I can work on supporting paid subscriptions in the data provider via an entry field for API key in Wealth-Lab's Data Manager.

In the future try breaking inherently different questions [like timeframes, paid access, non-USD pairs etc.] into different topics (despite they are all focused on Cryptocompare). Thanks.

I will keep you informed about the data
And that would be great!

Sorry for bringing all the different questions in one topic, I will be aware of that in the future. At the same time, will be useful to have all the info in one place for those who may want to use Wealth Lab for backtesting in crypto. Thank you once again

Eugene,

I had access to the data and it seems fine. I'm learning to use Cryptosheets to export the data from CryptoCompare and gonna include in Wealth Lab. Could you keep me updated about supporting paid subscriptions in the data provider via an entry field for API key in Wealth-Lab's Data Manager?

Sure, you're welcome to monitor the Extension Manager (there's an option to check for Extension updates on WLD startup) and the provider's Change Log.

Thank you!
Would you have any plans to check about it in anytime soon? Otherwise I will start to get all the data manually already.

Not anytime soon (like this month). It's a 'high season' now. I'm simply drowned in supporting the Fidelity WLP users transitioning to WLD which is top priority. Also, there are other scheduled tasks our team is about to pursue soon. So it maybe more like next month.

Thank you for the return and support.

Look forward to using your Cryptocompare API key in provider version 2020.09 (ETA ~ late August). API keys can be either paid or free (but the free one has a lifetime request limit).

@Kaesar

Please update the Extension to v2020.09 or higher and restart WL. You can use a paid subscription to CryptoCompare (or a free license). To do it, copy and paste your API key on the Cryptocompare tab in the Data Manager.

@Eugene

Hello!
Sadly I only saw this comment now.
Looking forward to test it! Just a few questions before:

- I don't have a CryptoCompare paid subscription anymore. Would be possible to subscribe again for a month, import all the data I need from CryptoCompare into the Wealth Lab database and then cancel it, so I only pay one month instead of paying every month to keep it updated? Then I pay for it again whenever I need to update the database up to date
If yes, how would be the process to import and keep all this data saved?

- This access would be able to import Minute data as well, not only Hourly? Since the CryptoCompare has that data as well.
I personally would consider that a bonus, since for daytrade setups in Crypto would be better to do the backtest manually considering the different prices for each Exchange. But for a M15 setup could be interesting, for example.

Hi,

1 - Although I have no experience with their subscription, what you describe sounds rational. I'd reload the Hourly data from scratch to get the maximum amount available (1-3 years depending on plan) and then use the Free plan to update it going forward (until you reach the cap of 250,000 lifetime calls).

Note that once your subscription expires, you will need to remove the API key from the provider's Data Manager tab and close it to apply.

2 - Minute data will not be supported due to a very limited data loading depth (1 day).

I just tested the new API connection and it looks like it's working just fine!
I will test about what I described for the CryptoCompare subscription, I think it would work too. Thank you for the support and amazing work!
