Hi. I want to buy wealt-lab but I have a question with licenses. Can I have the program installed on two PCs (home and work) and use them separately, not at the same time?. And if I buy a new computer, similarly I can download the program and use? I want basically only buy once and not worry about change of computer.

Hi,

Welcome to the forums Miguel.

Yes, if "separately" means not using WLD on the 2nd PC for a couple of months since successful activation on the 1st PC. To avoid simultaneous usage, activation of a license on another hardware is not possible for 60 days.

Yes, you can. In this case you'd transfer the license onto the new PC and lose the ability to activate WLD on the old PC. Scroll down to Want to activate a registered copy of Wealth-Lab on a different machine?

In this case let me suggest that you consider buying a 2nd (discounted) license.

The price for an individual extra license is $300. For more details please see here:

Hi Eugene,

Currently I have WL Pro on my main desktop computer and a backed up copy on a laptop. The backup laptop serves two purposes: (a) Ability to use the laptop in case of unexpected failure of the desktop computer without missing a beat and (b) it allows me to take the laptop with me when I travel so I can run my strategies for daily alerts. I switch back to my home desktop when I return from my travels. Is there going to be an option offered, or do you have any thoughts for someone in my situation where I do not want to buy another WL Dev. license (plus another annual maintenance fee), but yet need an ability to switch to a laptop (3 - 5 times) a year for overnight travels? Or am I S.O.L?

Thanks.

Hi Anish,

Usage on prolonged travels (as opposed to overnight) fits a single license usage pattern. A user would transfer the license onto their laptop when traveling, and then ask us to transfer it back via support ticket. As long as the transfers aren't frequent there's usually no need in another license.

It's the switching from one device to another every month that would require an extra license. For more detail please see this KB article: General | Activating Wealth-Lab Developer

Currently, with the influx of transitioning WLP customers we're thinking over the price & license policy with regard to the multiple licenses.

Thanks Eugene, that alleviates at least one of my main concern.

After you transition from Fidelity WLP to WLD, please create a support ticket and we'll get your concern re: running the product on multiple machines sorted out.

I'm migrating from WLP to WLD as well. I currently use WLP on only one machine -- a desktop computer. But I have been debating on having a laptop for development, backup and travel. Sometimes the travel could be meeting with other WLP developers for coffee nearby on a weekly or monthly basis. It would be nice if a license included at least two machines, but it's good to know that additional licenses are available at a discount.

Just thought I'd toss in my thoughts since Eugene mentioned he was rethinking the price & license policy.
