Hi
After instal of 6.5, noticed my data sets for Metastock were gone. Used data manager to re create my data set, I was able to create the data set; however the symbol bars are not there. What can I do to retain this data?
Many thanks.

In 6.5 we changed to a .NET-based assembly (so something changed), but it should be transparent. It's the first report of a problem - 6.5 was released a couple months ago.
What's the source of your Metastock data? Is it possible that you're using the new Metastock 12? The MetaLib component we use is advertised to be compatible up to MS 11 formats.

I am using "The Downloader" version 10.1 from Equis International. I just updated Wealth-Lab yesterday and after that began this issue.

There certainly shouldn't be a problem with that. Since I'm quite sure that the MetaStock Provider installed with 6.5 does work, maybe there's something about your computer environment that's different and causing it to fail. Anything special about that?

I'm not sure where to start. Can you suggest what I might look for? To clarify, the symbols are there in the data set in the data manager; however when I select "symbol details", I see 0 for bars. All the data in the Equis down loader are up to date. Thanks.

You might want to zip and attach the problematic MS data folder when replying. Mind the forum's file size restriction, please (2-3 Mb).

Thanks. Will do tomorrow.

By environment, I was thinking a non-standard Windows configuration (Windows emulator on a Mac) or accessing data files from a network drive, for example.

Afraid a zipped file remains to large to send. Robert, the computer is a dedicated Windows 7 machine and the data is located in C/ MetaStockData/Russell11. Oddly enough on examination this folder contains 255 .DAT and the remainder .MWD type files. Could this be an issue?

If the file is too large to attach, can you share that archive on any file hosting (there are millions) and paste the public link here?

Thanks re the 64 bit WL and Excel info. Sorry to bring it up yet again. Will be a day or two to send that file, but for now no urgency as Fidelity data has become reliable to date. The Metastock data is a back up source.

Re: 255 .DAT and the remainder .MWD type files
That's fine. Originally, MetaStock was limited to 255 files per folder (that's how old the format is!), but over the years new file types were added to support ever-increasing data demands. I'm not sure what changed in MetaStock 12, but there shouldn't be a problem supporting formats up to and including MetaStock 11.
Can you just make a small test DataSet with just a few symbols to zip and upload?

Hope this will suffice. Thanks and hope you have a great weekend.
