I'm still looking for a data provider, and I can't find any that I like. I don't know what you need a data provider to do, but I think using this format might work for you: http://www.eoddata.com/StockQuote/NASDAQ/AAPL.htm and obviously makes some fundamental data available. Split information is available at http://www.eoddata.com/splits.aspx, although I'm not sure whether you can use it the way they provide it.

Obviously, downloading historical data from them is very expensive, but updates to existing historical data (Fidelity) are free.

Kurt, to my knowledge eoddata.com has been delivering ASCII data (and maybe Metastock) which can be imported using the built-in providers.
