Hey guys. I was wondering what the limitation is on how many stocks Wealth Lab can scan for you in real time to find auto-trading opportunities? I have a cable modem, would I be ok with about 10 symbols in my Data Set? Is Wealth Lab pretty quick in detecting a buy order and filling it? I haven't started paper trading yet so I'm still kind of in the dark.

"Predetermined" limitations don't exist, but practical ones do - especially for the current design for the S. Monitor using Fidelity data. Anyway, you have 2 options:

1. Using the S. Monitor, it turns out that 10 symbols is the sweet spot since the Fidelity static provider requests updates for 10 symbols at a time. So, for 20 symbols, you'd need another "round trip" and so on. You can expect 2 or more seconds delay for each round trip. The nice thing about the S. Monitor is that all Alerts are organized in one window.

2. Save one or more Workspaces with Streaming charts. Depending on your screen size, 4 to 8 charts easily fit into a Workspace. Streaming charts offer the best performance (least delay), plus the chart is right there to see. While Alerts are spread between each window, if you Auto-Stage/Place, then they should show up in the Orders tool.

Should is emphasized because there's an intermittent and undertermined problem that is causing Auto-Stage/Place to fail, in which case you must place the Order manually (right-click, Place, for example). This applies to the S. Monitor Auto-Stage/Place as well.

It's a multi-threading optimization: the provider creates 10 threads for symbol data requests at a time to speed up downloading.

Eugene, not in the Fidelity data case. It's true that multiple Strategies all run on different threads in the S. Monitor, but the 10-symbol-at-a-time request is just one request on the same thread. That limitation is self-imposed, and I sure hope Fidelity changes the way they do it in the future.
