Please excuse my ignorance, but what does an extension like this do for me? I have a Telechart account and I downloaded this extension. I cannot see any new options or differences between Wealth Lab now and Wealth Lab before the extension download. What am I missing? Thanks.

If you use 64-bit WLP, you won't notice anything since the extension is not compatible. You can only use it in 32-bit WL (FAQ > Is Wealth-Lab Developer/Pro 6 able to use 4(6,8...) Gb of RAM when running on a 64-bit OS?)

After installing it into 32-bit WLP, click "Create a New DataSet". Important! Extension installed in Wealth-Lab doesn't show up after restarting application, 1st paragraph.

I installed the Telechart data source extension. I created a list of few symbols using this data source. Now when I click on the symbol to open a chart for it, I get error (screenshot attached):

"Telechart data read error...."

I am running TC2000 version 7 which has the COM interface. I also tried running both TC2000 and Welath-lab in admin mode, but that also didn't help.

The TeleCharts provider is not (and cannot be made) 64-bit compatible. I believe this should explain it. Try installing 32-bit WLD 6.9 and then install the provider extension in that instance. Note that 64/32-bit instances of WL6 cannot be run side by side.

i just verified that I am running WL6 32-bit version (see attached screenshot). I selected 32-bit version after reading earlier posts on using telechart extension.

Any other idea on this? If there a video tutorial or a text tutorial with step-by-step on using WLD with TC2000?

As an alternative, you could try exporting the data out of TC to ASCII.

None that I'm aware of. It's not a recommended data provider.

I remember creating this provider over 12 years ago, and I'm not sure if it was ever used after that! The idea would be to Create new DataSets in Wealth-Lab's Data Manager and point it to TC2000 and follow the wizard. Does TC2000 show up there?

Amazing, they're even their own broker now!

So the answer to Mr.Hari's question may be that the TC2000 software may have broken backward compatibility??

And there's a Mac version now too. We wouldn't play that one.

TC2000 version 7 was the last version with COM support / native app where they used to download whole database on the local computer. After that they moved to silverlight I think and the data is on the server. And the client can run on Windows, Mac, and even in the browser.

But for customers who access data through COM or like to have whole database locally, they still have TC2000 version 7 for download. I don't think they have made any changes (may be minimal to support new data / lists). So backward compatibility should be there.

Just reviewing this again and I didn't actually read your post, only the topic starter's!

The "Unable to cast" error looks like we're in "COM Hell". When there's a free moment, I can try to revive it. But no promises - I can't even remember the last time I worked with a COM component!

This forum might not be available for a short time, but I'll contact you by email if required.

Thanks Cone! I am looking forward for the fix for the extension.
