Inhibit starting strategy for a backtest

I saw this answered in the past, but could not find it in a search. How do keep the strategy from executing the first time when you click between different symbols and time scales? I have a strategy saved with many years of backtesting and 1min timeframe, but it dies before the backtest completes, and I cannot save a shorter timeframe until it completes successfully one time. Chicken and egg problem.
