Eugene or Cone

I just upgraded to the latest WLD from one about 18 months old. I lost all my datasets. This has never happened to me in the last decade of updates. I had about 50 datasets. How can I get them back without spending a whole day on it please?

Edit: It gets worse. There is no Yahoo option anymore for data. I use it for maybe 30 of my datasets. Why?

Image attached.

First world disaster!:)

Thanks and regards

Hi Rod,

Having encountered an error message or an issue, please check out these pages:

1. Known Errors
2. Open Issues

In particular, I'm sure that this error can resolved by following this procedure:

Errors | Data > Some DataSets are gone. Some previously installed providers can't be found.

Rod, your screenshot clearly tells that unfortunately, the Yahoo provider was deleted. It probably resulted from the InstallShield script not correctly handling something.

Solution: please reinstall the Yahoo provider and restart WLD. Your DataSets will reappear. Do that to any other missing providers.

I reinstalled Yahoo and also the ASCII provider, and it all worked as you said it would. Thanks.

You are a legend, a rockstar.

PS: Don't you sleep?!

Thanks

Glad to see you're back on track! Thank you for the kind words.

Besides Dion (the Wealth-Lab author) in the U.S., our team is Europe based. So when you happy Kiwis get to bed we're back from sleep. ;)

P.S. From what I recall, the problem happens if your installation being upgraded has provider versions more recent (i.e. updated) than the ones inside WealthLab6Setup*.exe. Both ASCII and Yahoo providers have been updated this year. I guess this explains it. Not sure if this can be fixed with the current installer, though. Maybe we explore a better installer some day. Something to consider.

Thanks Eugene. I always thought you and Cone were the authors and in the US! Dion keeps a low profile:)
