Hi. My paper accounts used to keep/save all the trades that it did under the "Local Trade History" tab, but recently they have stopped doing so. Now it only shows trades, if there is any, the same day. When the next day arrives, the trades that were made in previous days are all gone: disappeared. How can I go back to the old mode? Thanks.

That would happen if you keep deleting ..\Data\TradeHistory.xml. Otherwise, you should have all the trades back to when you started, like I do.

It's possible that if Wealth-Lab shuts down improperly the file won't be saved properly. Are you crashing every day?

No. I have not crashed in a long time, and I have not been deleting anything unless there is something happening that I am not aware of. Only thing that I can think of that I do every day is the data update which is set up for automatic update every morning at 7, but often the update would stop after 25 min or so, and I press the "update data" button again because I know that my normal complete update takes a little over an hour. I have been annoyed by this data update issue, but I don't know if it has anything to do with all previous trades disappearing. Like I said, I used to have all previous trades listed under the Local Trade History tab, but now all trades disappear the next day, and the are is blank. What can I do to keep my historical trades?

There's nothing you can do or have to do. We have to determine what's causing the problem. Like I said, these data are stored in the ..\Data\TradeHistory.xml file. So, the only reasons I can think of that you wouldn't see data written to that location is:

1. The file is being deleted, or,
2. Something is preventing the data from being written to that file (crash, permissions,...) , or,
3. You're logging into Windows as a different user

There could be more reasons, but you have to start somewhere. If none of that sounds like it fits, think of changes that you've made to your system around the time you noticed the problem. Start troubleshooting... as it's never been reported before (to the best of my knowledge) the problem exists only on your system.

I am not logging into Windows as a different user, and I am not actively deleting anything which does not exclude the possibility of things being deleted for some reason that I don't know about. Can you think of anything?

If something is preventing the date from being written to that file, I don't know why it is happening or what I can do about it, do you? Because my computer has not crashed in a very long time. What should I do?

Logging in as a different user is the first thing I would think of, too, but maybe you have a backup/restore utility or anything like that have overwritten that XML config file (in particular). Or things like restoring the state of a virtual machine.

The only thing that I can think of is I might have been instructed to delete cookies, etc. from a customer support staff of another company to get a piece of software working. I don't recall things exactly, but those are the things that might have happened. I don't recall anything else. What do you think I should do so that I can get WLP to start saving and displaying the historical trades again?

also, come to think of it, the siren stopped going off also when at 4:30 PM, the strategies in the Strategy Monitor window starts updating the alerts for possible trades for tomorrow. When I play something from You Tube, etc, the sound comes out fine from my speaker. I don't know why WLP stopped sounding siren. I don't know if this is related to the trades not showing up. What to do?

See Preferences (F12) > Sounds. Either:
1. the box for "Alert triggered from S. Monitor" isn't checked, or,
2. the path to the sound file isn't valid, or,
3. your Strategies aren't generating new Alerts, or,
4. it's another mysterious problem, or,
5. all of the above

My strategy generated a trade alert, and the paper account traded it correctly. It's just that the next morning, the trade disappeared from the Local Trade History tab. There is nothing there right now although there were trades in the recent past. It is blank. What to do?

Oh, I take that back. I just ran a back test, and realized that there was a trade yesterday under my strategy, but the paper account did not trade it. So apparently the paper accounts are not only having problems keeping the trade records under the Local History tab, but also are having problems generating trades. I checked Tools> sound, and all the boxes were checked including teh Alert trigggered from S. Monitor. Like I said earlier, my WLP paper accounts did not used to have these kinds of problems although they had different set of problems. What should I do?

Why don't you create a Support Ticket and attach:
1. images of the entire WLP workspace that shows the prevalent information, and,
2. the ..\Data\TradeHistory.xml

Zip all the files in a single archive and attach to the ticket.

Hi. Does your number 2 refer to the Data folder within my C: drive? Because I went to Computer> (C:)> Users>owner>APpData>Roaming>Fidelity Investments>WealthLabPro>1.0.0.0>Data> but I don't see TradeHistory. I, however, do see Orders file in XML. Was that the file you were referring to when you said "Tradehistory?" If not, where can I find the file that you wanted? Thanks.

Assuming that you're logged in to Windows as "owner", that seems to isolate the problem pretty well. The file must not be getting written for some very strange reason.

Please open a ticket and we'll coach you to turn on logging so we can try to see what's going on internally.
