I am using 5.6 and stick w/ rule based rather than code.
I have a strategy using RSI w/ a period of 2 (daily basis).
Backtesting shows much better results acting on the present day's close rather than market (next day's open). the problem of course is that the market is closed when the signal comes in.
Thus I am trying to use the 3:30 EST value to infer the close.
I have tried every formula I can find to predict the number in a spreadsheet, but non match the results of W. L. Pro including the formulae (yes, more than 1) on the wiki site. I have used simple SMAs of the highs and lows ala Stock Charts and several variants of EMAs from Intelligent Charts and other sources including Colby's book.
Does anyone know the actual RSI calculation in rule based 5.6?; not code, but the equation.
thank you, Jerry d.

http://www2.wealth-lab.com/WL5WIKI/RSI.ashxYou're trying to predict the 4pm close with 3:30pm prices and RSI?
Why not use 1-minute charts and look for your trading signals based on the 3:59 close? I'd guess that the results (over time) can't be that much different for what you'd get at 4pm.
