I am experiencing the following problem.
Over the years I have created plenty of strategies that don't work and a few that do. In order to find them quickly I have opened the folder in which they are in through msft explorer and put the word usable before the name of the strategy. When I look in explorer the files under USABLE they show up. When I use the open strategy search window in WL they do not. This creates a fairly annoying problem of having to search for the files multiple times etc.
One solution could be to delete strategies that I don't use, but they contain code that I will reuse so I don't want to do that.
Do you know why WL does not search right? Can it be fixed?
Thanks.

There's nothing to fix because WL searches correctly - it's rather your usage pattern is unexpected to WLP. Renaming strategies in external applications is in vain as WLP doesn't care about the file name in principle. The word "USABLE" must appear in the strategy title or in the strategy code to be picked up. In other words, when you rename in WLP the title with the word "USABLE" gets properly saved in the strategy's XML file (but the original file name isn't modified).

If I may suggest a change going forward so that all applications see the same name.
Just a suggestion.
Thank you.
Best.

Sorry, this is not going to happen. Quite a bit of characters are simply prohibited in the file system, for example: \ / : * ? " < > | At the same time you can easily have them in the strategy title. (You might have noticed how we've been using "|" in all ActiveTrader and TASC Magazine strategies over the years.)
Rules of thumb:
1. Do not rename any strategy file externally - it's easier to "Save As" than use Explorer (to no avail)
2. Do not modify most any XML file while WLP is running

May I then suggest a RENAME button in addition to save and save as.
Thanks gain.

This was a request in demand (for example,
#1 or
#2) yet it never came to fruition. For now we're locked to Open + Save As + Delete.

Thanks.
If you get bored and decide to include it, it will save a bunch of duplicate copies with different names.

Sorry but MS123 is not in charge of the Wealth-Lab client modification. For this reason you might want to call Fidelity and ask them you need a "Rename Strategy" button in WLP.
