For the last few days when strategy monitor runs I have a the following message at the bottom of the screen that Says Symbols Pending Update: 170 or some such number and the program never finishes.

It sounds like you might be having too much intraday symbols in the Strategy Monitor DataSet? If the problematic DataSet is large (170) and intraday, break it up into smaller DataSets of 10 symbols each and add the Strategy for each one. In other words, it's taking too long to poll for data while looping for 170 stocks, if it's 170 1-5 minute Bars.

Note: This problem with supporting many intraday symbols at the lower intervals should be resolved in the WLP 6.4 update this summer, which will incorporate a new feed specifically designed for this purpose.

I do a data update at 5 am and have the strategy monitor at 8 AM.
I have just run on my home computer (mirror image) and I don't have the problem.
Very strange that is why I am asking for help.
Can it be a RAM issue ( 6 gigs at office 8 at home?)

RAM, no way. Problem at work? You should talk to your IT guy about the firewall. Is WL being blocked?

If you're doing a data update and the log shows no errors, data correctly received, only then it's OK. Maybe it's not the application has gotten "blacklisted" but what if the target website/IP (*.fidelity.com) is?

Try closing the Strategy Monitor (no need to close WLP), renaming the StrategyMonitorConfiguration.xml file for backup purposes, and adding the Strategy from scratch. For now, limit the number of symbols and add just one Strategy. Any effect?
