When Fidelity had the Wealth Lab app, I used to update all symbols as early as about 4:10 PM. And it worked, all the time.

I just started a subscription the other day and have discovered that symbol updates from Yahoo don't come in for hours. It is 10:34 PM Thursday, 11/12/20 and the latest update I can get is yesterday's, the 11th.

Am I missing something? Is there a workaround that'll bring in these updates a lot sooner?

You must've been very lucky as this is exactly the opposite of what we were suggesting:

Fidelity Static Provider Data Corrections

While I would recommend updating the next day to apply corrections, Yahoo updates should come within hours. In case you want it now, enable "Always return data with partial bar" on Yahoo's Data Manager tab.

Keep in mind that Fidelity data in total was not free (its high costs was a factor to decommissioning WLP) and Yahoo does not even want you to download the data in bulk for free.

Thanks, Eugene. I'll look at the Yahoo tab now!

It is 3:45 pm Pacific time on 12/15/2020 and if I go to yahoo finance,I see today 12/15/2020 quotes are already posted. I kind of don't want to use update partial bar cau I have to somehow use datatool and remove 1 day manually not in a batch job. If I just hit update in data manager , I only get 12/14/2020 quotes

Any cure for my problem ?

There is no problem despite it sounds like by raising a question you'd want it to appear like one. Yahoo is a free feed and its daily update time is very well known from the forum. If you want timely updates whenever you need them, you might want to consider subscribing to a paid service like IQFeed, Tiingo or Alphavantage.

You are right truncating using datatool is super fast.. simply remove a few days of data and next scheduled update will apply any amendment to data.
