I am using free yahoo finance for data to drive WL charts. Only problem is that they only go back 5 years. Reuters goes back longer. Here is a link toReuters, I used Coca Cola and it went back to 1996.
Question: how can I get longer free data feeds than 5 years and/or does Reuters link to WL as a source? Thanks

That's incorrect. Yahoo! Finance data for KO goes back to 1962. Here's a prooflink. Make sure the Yahoo! provider is up to date (v2014.02.1), then reload your data:

1. For only a handful of symbols, open the chart, right-click and select "Reload chart history"
2. Mass reload of entire DataSet(s) is possible using the Data Tool extension

Reuters is not supported but there are many alternative data feeds: MS123 Providers.

Atop the left panel in Wealth-Lab, make sure to set your "Data Range". (It's probably set to Most Recent 5 Years.)

:) I suspected kephin's outdated 6.6 installation and possibly inactual Y! provider (for a long time it was prone to data corruption by virtue of now depreciated "starting date") but Cone's vision seems more likely!

Hi - I've just got back to my PC to try this. The feed was on 'All Data' but that only gave me 5 years. I have clicked on 'Most recent' and increased the number of years to 20, but it still only gives me 5 years. I am trying it on AMZN.

I have attached a pdf with 2 screenshots. 1) the chart only goes back 5 years. 2) The data box clearly shows I am requesting it goes back 20 years.

Amazon AMZN has a long history so should go back that far.

Look at the status bar saying "Bars: 4,580". You've got all its history going back to inception in 1997.

You'll be surprised but the chart window is scrollable. Like every other Windows application that ever existed of e.g. your browser. Did you ever scroll a document in Microsoft Word using mouse? Here it's the same. Notice the little gray square below the volume pane on the right edge? To scroll the chart back in time, drag the slider to the very left or make clicks within that ribbon.

Case closed.

P.S. Please do not use PDF for posting screenshots and/or error messages. This format is clumsy for the task. You can attach several screenshots at once each in a separate PNG file (the preferred format) when replying. MS Paint which is built in any Windows will do it. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi, I sent a chart earlier with the historic AMZN data and you were right in pointing out that the Bars number went back multiple years. I just needed to scroll the bottom grey block ( I was using my mouse to scroll the chart which zoomed in and out for the last 5 years).

But.....
Just as I thought you'd solved the problem I now cannot recreate the >5 year data. If I load AMZN again it only gives me 1716 bars not the 4580 I sent before. Dropdown box is exactly the same 'Most recent' box ticked for '20 years'. but now the returned data is only 5 years. I updated your Yahoo link suggestion between sending you the pdf and you replying - could that now have scuppered it?

I've rebooted WL but it makes no difference. I have manually right clicked and hit 'Reload chart history'. That doesn't make any difference - still 1511 bars - not the 4580I sent you earlier.

Very strange - any ideas?

Seeing is believing. For me to believe, please attach a screenshot indicating "All data" loaded and the number of loaded bars.

Am away from that PC today - will do it tomorrow. I think it was 1716 and then when I reloaded it was 1511 or vica versa, but not the 4580 I sent you (which is perfect). Thanks

Here is the PNG you prefer. See 1511 bars on AMZN and note how data on chart before '09 doesn't exist? See Top left - I ticked - 'All data'. I also right clicked 'reload chart history' and that yields the same result. Seeing is believing as you say.

What a confusion this is!

First, this is not AMZN. Do you notice the chart saying AMZN:US ? AMZN:US is not even a valid Yahoo! symbol. Check the Yahoo! Finance site to make sure that one can't get it from them as the ticker is not recognized.

But I recall the notation: it belongs to the BBFree data provider. And yes, 1511 bars is the maximum one can get from this free data feed as this is a documented limitation:

So yes, the data goes back only 5 years but it's not Yahoo at all despite the misleading topic title. In the future please carefully review the parameters of an instrument you're using (e.g. DataSet title, data provider, etc.) and look into its online manual. A little attention to the details could have helped to solve this "cry wolf problem" instantly (rather than in 3 weeks).
