get a current quote for a given symbol

Is there a way to programmatically get a current quote for a given symbol?

I tried GetExternalSymbol, but it didn't seem to act right unless I had a chart up with that symbol on it.

Do you mean Bars.Close[Bars.Count - 1] ?
